Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a very common skin condition that affects an estimated 30 percent of the US population, almost 100 million people.  And it affects almost 20% of children.

It causes dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It’s common in young children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare sometimes. It can be irritating but it’s not contagious.
